Storytellers & Image-Makers: A Celebration of Art and Literature

Join us for an afternoon of inspiring experiences celebrating the power of stories in books and works of art.

Duncan Tonatiuh, an award-winning author and illustrator, will be doing read-alouds at 2:00 p.m. in English and at 3:00 p.m. in Spanish. A book signing will follow each read-aloud. A limited number of Tonatiuh’s books will be available for purchase on site from Brain Lair Books.

Print and collage your own work of art inspired by Tonatiuh’s illustrations and the prints of Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada (1852–1913).

Find your rhythm with a Ballet Folklorico performance by local dancers.

Be serenaded by classical guitarist Benito Salazar in our International Modern and Contemporary Galleries.

Explore ancient and contemporary works of art in the Mesoamerican galleries and prints by Posada in the Teaching Gallery.

Enjoy complimentary tacos from a local food truck.

This event is free and open to all.
